Indian equities ended lower on Wednesday, primarily driven by selling in heavyweight stocks. Information technology and oil and gas shares experienced significant declines, falling more than 2%. Several companies, including Jio Platforms and Hero MotoCorp, reported their quarterly earnings that impacted market sentiment.
Indian equities ended lower on Wednesday, failing to draw support from positive global cues as persistent selling in heavyweight stocks weighed on market sentiment. Information technology and oil and gas shares led the decline, with both sectors falling more than 2%.The Nifty 50 settled at 22,699, down 51 points, or 0.22%. The index has repeatedly failed to sustain gains above this zone, leaving 22,800 as a key resistance level. A decisive and sustained breakout above this hurdle would strengthen recovery prospects and open the way for further upside, according to Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.
Against this backdrop, several stocks, including Jio Platforms, RIL, Hero MotoCorp, Meesho, TVS Motor, Vedanta Aluminium, Suzlon Energy are likely to remain in focus on Thursday, October 29, as investors track September-quarter earnings, fundraising plans, credit rating updates, regulatory developments and new business wins.
